Nuts & Bolts of Men's Health

Presented by Dr. Jo Milios this course covers a range of topics relevant to the physical therapist providing clinical, evidence-based care for men undergoing treatment for problems of the Prostate, Pelvic Floor and Penis. A Men’s Health course fusing research and practical experience for practitioners wishing to incorporate men's health into their clinical practice.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course, participants will gain knowledge in understanding:

  1. Men’s health today: an introduction to the 5-year gender survival gap
  2. Physical therapy approaches in men’s health with a focus on pelvic health issues
  3. Evidence-based physical therapy for men with urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction (i.e. software into hardware), and Peyronie’s disease (i.e. staying on track)
  4. Current clinical strategies that can easily be implemented in practice
  5. The role of focal shockwave therapy in assisting men with prostate cancer
  6. Pelvic floor muscle function tests and training programs based on Jo Milios’ Ph.D. research
  7. Strategies to enhance physical therapy for men’s in the clinic and community outreach (e.g. heart health and hard health)
